The train stations in London don't have bins
because of the threat of someone planting a bomb in them. Fair enough, but
that's a whole new discussion. Why do you think people want to bomb the
Brits?
Anyway, today's gripe is something that's been
annoying me for a while. Nearly every morning at any station in London I see
someone finish their coffee and carefully place the paper cup neatly on top of
one of those electricity boxes, or on a ledge in the corner, or neatly
straighten their newspaper behind a seat. It's as if they're telling themselves
that placing rubbish on the floor is different to throwing it
there.
I've got news for you, Buddy. You're still goddamn
littering. I think it gets to me more than people who just throw stuff on the
floor. At least they're not pretending to be civilised. These men and women
who're dressed in their power gear heading into the City to hang with their
important colleagues and look down on us, the proletariat (or is that we, the
proletariat?), are still no better
than the dude with his dog-on-a-string catching the same 07.25 train who throws his near-finished
Carlsberg Export onto the tracks.
