There has been a tragic proliferation of people who don't understand the difference between:

1 - your and you're
2 - lose and loose

These aren't typos, people genuinely don't know the difference. That's why we're here. To help.

  • Your
Possessive. As in: your bag, your nose, your car.

  • You're
Short for "you are". The apostrophe replaces the "a". As in: You're funny, you're tall, you're late.

"Your funny" doesn't make sense. Please don't use it. I don't have a funny, and neither do you.

  • Lose
    Come second. Don't win.

  • Loose.
    Not tight.

I saw graffiti across a photo of David Beckham, where some idiot had scribbled "looser". The only loser here is you, mate. (And don't believe the papers when they tell you it was a pun. People who write graffiti don't understand puns.)
