From Erica:
Further to Martyn's comment about women shoppers in supermarkets I have another observation. I have found that men shopping on their own, particularly older men, insist on packing every single item before they get their wallet or money out. Personally I stop packing, give the cashier my credit card and continue packing whilst she is processing it. With regards to women getting their purses out at the last minute has Martyn ever tried to unload a family shop onto the conveyor belt and pack it into carrier bags whilst holding a purse? By the way Martyn is my husband. Leesie's note:
Erica. I'm sorry about that. (Not about men packing everything, but about being married to Martyn). I take my hat off to you - I've thought about it at length, and I couldn't do it.
In their defence, though, I can say this: men know where their wallets are. It's pretty simple: pack, pack, pack, right hand behind, right back pocket, out with the plastic and pay. I've yet to hear a man say "it's in here somewhere" (well at least not with regards their
backpocket).
