Smartie sends this:
The purpose of non-transferrable, non-refundable tickets is to make travel more affordable. I understand the principle of your gripe, but your mates could have paid more for more flexible tickets.
There are just some things that we just have to live with, especially if it provides more variety to the options available to us.
Leesie responds:
Smartie. Thanks for your contribution. This site depends on interaction from readers. I'd like to introduce you to a little thing
that I enjoy about living in a free country. It's called freedom of speech. If
you don't like my gripes, read something else. I know Tony Blair is working on
restricting our civil liberties, but hopefully he'll be gone by the time moaning
on the internet is illegal.
The gist of my gripe is that non-transferrable, non-refundable tickets
are a bit like WH Smith having two prices for books. £6.99 if you take it
now, £9.99 if you think you might want to return it. Face it: non-refundable/transferable
tickets are a con. A way of making more money out of you. It's no skin off their
back who's sitting in the seat, but if they can legally fleece you, they
will.
Now go and read Nineteen Eighty four.
